How To Build A Potting Table

Potting tables are a great way to keep your gardening supplies organized and within reach. They also provide a convenient place to pot plants, repot them, or start seeds. You can build a potting table yourself with a few basic tools and materials.

Materials:

4x4 posts (4)
2x4 lumber (8)
3/4-inch plywood (1 sheet)
1x4 lumber (4)
1x6 lumber (4)
Wood screws
Washers
Nuts
Sandpaper
Paint or stain (optional)

Tools:

Circular saw or miter saw
Drill
Screwdriver
Wrench
Measuring tape
Level

Instructions:

Cut the 4x4 posts to length. The length of the posts will depend on the desired height of the potting table. For a comfortable working height, cut the posts to 36 inches.
Assemble the frame. Attach the 2x4 lumber to the 4x4 posts to form the frame of the potting table. Use wood screws to secure the 2x4s to the posts.
Attach the plywood top. Cut the plywood to the desired size for the tabletop. Place the plywood on top of the frame and secure it with wood screws.
Build the shelves. Cut the 1x4 lumber and 1x6 lumber to the desired size for the shelves. Attach the shelves to the frame of the potting table using wood screws.
Add finishing touches. Sand the potting table to smooth any rough edges. You can also paint or stain the potting table to match your outdoor décor.

Tips:

Use pressure-treated lumber for the frame of the potting table to resist rot and decay.
Add casters to the bottom of the potting table for easy mobility.
Place the potting table in a convenient location near your garden.
